A captain in the praetorian guards, Saint Sebastian was discovered to be a Christian and imprisoned, where he converted many around him to the Christian faith. Shot with arrows and left for dead, he was nursed back to health, and then sought out and denounced the Emperor, who sentenced him to be beaten to death.
